Autumn Adventures at Woodcrest

From holiday celebrations to well-deserved breaks, Woodcrest School’s fall calendar is packed with exciting events and observances. Whether it’s enjoying festive fun at the Halloween Carnival or taking time off to honor traditions like Veterans Day and Thanksgiving, there’s something for every student to look forward to this season!

First Monday in September: Labor Day

On Labor Day, the first Monday in September, students at Woodcrest School get a break from classes as the school observes this holiday by being out of session.

October 31: Halloween Carnival

Join the excitement at Woodcrest School’s Halloween Carnival on October 31 (or the closest Monday or Friday if Halloween falls on a weekend), where a thrilling evening of games, a costume contest, and a haunted maze offers students spooky fun and creativity in a festive environment!

November 11: Veterans Day

In observance of Veterans Day, Woodcrest School remains closed on weekdays when the holiday falls during the school week, allowing students and staff to honor the contributions and sacrifices of our veterans.

Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday of Thanksgiving Week: Thanksgiving Break

Each year, the day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Day, and Black Friday mark the Thanksgiving Break, meaning the school is closed during these days.

Winter Fun and Festivities at Woodcrest

Winter at Woodcrest is packed with festive and fun school events! From our holiday shows and dances to our winter camp packed with activities, there’s plenty to keep students engaged and excited. Plus, with time off for holidays like Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents’ Day, there are moments to reflect and recharge during the season. 

2 Days in December: Winter Holiday Show

Delight in the festive spirit as Woodcrest invites K-3rd grade families on the first day, followed by 4th through middle school families on the second day, to our enchanting Winter Holiday Show, celebrating creativity and community joy. Week of Christmas Until January 5: Winter Vacation

During this festive period, Woodcrest will be closed for the entire week of Christmas until January 5, allowing students to enjoy a well-deserved holiday break. School resumes on January 6.

December 30, Half Day on December 31, and January 2 through First Friday in January: Valley Trails Winter Camp

Join the Valley Trails Winter Camp for a fun-filled adventure, where students can explore captivating activities designed to inspire and entertain during the winter break.

Third Monday in January: Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday

The school remains closed as students and staff observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day, honoring his legacy on the third Monday each January.

Multiple Days in February: Spelling Bee

On the third Monday in February, Woodcrest School observes President’s Day, providing a day off for students to honor past leaders and reflect on the country’s history.

Spring Fun at Woodcrest

1 Week in March: Woodcrest Book Fair

Week After Easter: Spring Break

Spring Break at Woodcrest School is held in the week immediately following Easter Sunday, providing students a chance to relax and recharge. 

2 Days in April: Woodcrest Restaurant Night

1 Week in May: Teacher Appreciation Week

2 Days in May: End of Year Awards

Last Wednesday of May: Last Day of School for 8th Grade

Celebrate with us as our 8th graders take a final bow on the last Wednesday of May, marking their last day of school at Woodcrest!

Summer Fun at Woodcrest

Summer at Woodcrest is all about celebrating milestones and making memories! From graduations and the last day of school to weeks of fun at Valley Trails Summer Camp, there’s always something exciting happening. As the season wraps up, we gear up for a new school year with Back to School events. Let’s make summer unforgettable! 

First Monday in June: 8th Grade Graduation

Join us in celebrating the achievements of our graduating 8th graders on the first Monday in June, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey at Woodcrest School. 

First Tuesday in June: 5th Grade Culmination

On the first Tuesday in June, our 5th Grade Culmination is a memorable celebration marking the students’ transition from elementary school, filled with joyous reflections and aspirations for the future.

First Wednesday in June: Last Day of School

The remainder of our students will also enjoy their last day on the first Wednesday in June. 

Second Monday in June - Second Friday in August: Valley Trails Summer Camp

With sessions running from early June to mid-August, Valley Trails Summer Camp promises nearly an entire summer of fun and exploration for your child. In observance of Independence Day, summer camp will not be held on July 4th.

Third Week in August: Back to School

The Back to School Parent Teacher Conference takes place on the Monday of the third week in August, setting the stage for the exciting first day of school, which follows on Thursday.

2 Nights in August: Back to School Nights

Following the start of the school year in August, our Back to School Nights come alive with excitement as we welcome families, dedicating one evening in August to grades 4 through middle school and the following evening to grades K through 3.
